The amazing thing is how much money and time it can save you. Imagine the cost savings in avoiding lengthy meetings or seaching for paper and mismanaged documents.

The best part is that you can track who has and has not read their relevant procedures. And document authors will receive email reminders when it is time to do their annual, biannual, or scheduled review .

Overview of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) came into law July 30, 2002 following high-profile corporate accounting scandals at Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, and other public companies.  The purpose of SOX is to provide investors and the public with reliable and accurate information by regulating accounting and auditing standards as well as mandating corporate responsibility.

Sarbanes-Oxley is divided into eleven different titles. Many of these titles encourage compliance through transparent document management strategies. Corporations take the first step of responsibility through internal control certifications. Next, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) enforce further compliance and penalties when necessary.
